Zimbabwe and India have not played international cricket against each other regularly, but whenever there is a series between the two nations, the BCCI gives a chance to many young players to showcase their talent at the international level. Quite a few big names of Indian cricket played their first international match against the Zimbabwean cricket team.

The BCCI also sends players who are looking to get back to form or need to score big to get settled in international cricket to the tours of Zimbabwe. Three such popular Indian batters went to Zimbabwe and registered their first ODI hundred on that tour. Here’s a list of those names.

1. Shubman Gill has scored a century in Zimbabwe

Current Indian opener Shubman Gill became the latest Indian player to register a century in international cricket. Playing for the Men in Blue in the series against the Zimbabwean side, Gill smashed his maiden ODI hundred. He could have accomplished the feat in West Indies last month itself, but rain interrupted the proceedings when he was in the nervous 90s.

2. KL Rahul scored his first ODI ton in Zimbabwe

Not many fans would remember that KL Rahul, who is leading the Indian cricket team in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup Super League series against the Zimbabwean outfit, scored a hundred on debut in a series against the African side six years ago.

Rahul became the first Indian batter to smash a hundred on one-day international debut in that match. He is one of the best batters in world cricket at the moment.

3. Rohit Sharma

Current Indian skipper Rohit Sharma hit his first ODI century against the Zimbabwean side at the Queens Sports Club during a tri-series in 2010. Both Rohit and Rahul went on to lead India. It will be interesting to see if Gill does the same.
