While Shubman Gill was named the Player of the Match and the Player of the Series, but the Indian youngster was frustrated having missed his maiden ODI hundred through no fault of his own.
Team India registered a comfortable win in the 3rd ODI match of the series against West Indies to seal the series 3-0. Having already won the first 2 matches and win the series, the third match was about proving yourself to be in contention for a spot in the ODI squad.
Shubman Gill was just going that. The young Indian opening batter is a regular in the Test team but is yet to solidify his position in the ODI squad and the West Indies was a big opportunity for him.
He took that opportunity with both hands, scoring a total of 205 runs in the series that includes 2 fifty plus scores. However, the third match will hurt him the most as he missed out on his maiden ODI century because of rain.
Batting at 98 runs not out from 98 balls, the rain interrupted India’s inning for the 2nd time and the Indian inning was finished there as the match was reduced to 35 overs while India had already played 36 overs.
While India comfortably won the match, it hurts to all the Indian fans and Shubman Gill himself to not score his maiden ODI century. Twitterati felt sympathy for the youngster as he returns back to India from the Caribbean Islands.

This guy, if he gets it right mentally, has 10k runs written in both Tests and ODI’s.
Just like Pant, Gill is taking his time but will surely come good.
