MS Dhoni announced his arrival in IPL 2024 with a spectacular cameo of 37 runs from 16 balls. The Chennai Super Kings wicketkeeper came out to bat for the first time this season. The match’s result was almost decided as Delhi Capitals dominated a majority of the game in Vizag.
However, fans were still excited to watch the rest of the game because MS Dhoni had walked out to bat. Batting at number eight, Dhoni played an unbelievable knock of 37 runs from 16 deliveries. He smashed three sixes, including two off express pacer Anrich Nortje in the 20th over of the innings.
The one-handed six against Nortje received so much attention from the fans on social media. Delhi Capitals eventually won the match by 20 runs, but Dhoni won the award for the Electric Striker of the Match in the post-match presentation ceremony.
Talking about Dhoni’s innings, he was back with long hair and gave the fans in Vizag a vintage experience as he smashed four fours and three sixes. He maintained an impressive strike rate of 231.25. Not a single batter of CSK had a strike rate of around 200 even in a run-chase of 192.
