MS Dhoni is 42 years old, but looking at the way he has been keeping the wickets for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024, it does not look like he is that old. The CSK wicketkeeper executed a fine dive behind the stumps to grab a flying catch and dismiss Vijay Shankar in the ongoing match against the Gujarat Titans.
It is the seventh match of IPL 2024, the second of the season for the Chennai Super Kings, who started their campaign with a win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Friday evening. GT skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and asked CSK to bat first at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Some brilliant batting performances from Rachin Ravindra, Shivam Dube, Sameer Rizvi and Ruturaj Gaikwad helped the Chennai Super Kings post 206/6 on the board in 20 overs. In reply, Gujarat Titans have struggled to get going. Deepak Chahar got rid of both the GT openers Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha in the powerplay itself.
Tamil Nadu boys Sai Sudharsan and Vijay Shankar tried to use their knowledge of the conditions at the MA Chidambaram Stadium and stitch up a partnership for the Gujarat Titans. They added 21 runs in three overs before MS Dhoni stunned everyone with a vintage catch.
Daryl Mitchell was the bowler, and Vijay Shankar got a thick outside edge off the length ball which was pitched on the outside off-stump line. MS Dhoni had to dive towards the first slip region. He did it perfectly and grabbed the catch.
