The ongoing five-match series between India and England is currently 1-1, with three more matches to play. The third test will kick off in Rajkot on February 15. On Saturday, the Indian selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, announced the Indian squad for the remaining three tests.
Virat Kohli is all set to miss the entire series while Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul make the cut, which is due to their injuries. Bengal pacer Akash Deep got his maiden cap and will be joining the side. Apart from that, Shreyas Iyer has been dropped. 3. Washington Sundar
Washington Sundar was included in the squad after Jadeja was ruled out of the second test due to injury. However, Jadeja has returned, and Sundar is still part of the squad. India now has five spinners in the squad, which has happened for the first time in quite some time. Though it will be difficult for Sundar to get a game, he is lucky to stick with the team here.
2. Mukesh Kumar
Pacer Mukesh Kumar has been part of the Indian team across formats for a year now. But he has not delivered many good performances at this level, despite that he is in the team. Mukesh played the second test and gave away runs around an economy rate of 6 and took only one wicket. Mohammed Siraj, who was given rest for the second test, is back, and despite that, Mukesh has been picked in the squad.
1. KS Bharat
Since Rishabh Pant met with a car accident, India has been struggling to find his ideal replacement in the longest format. India has certainly given an extended run to Srikar Bharat, who has played seven tests now. But his numbers are very poor, and he has not scored a single fifty in 12 innings. Bharat has scored 221 runs at 20.09 and has failed with the bat. However, India has still gone with him, and he is the luckiest one to be part of the announced squad.
