A win is always special in any sport. However, the win margin describes the dominance of one team over the other. Over the years, there have been a few big wins registered across formats in all forms of cricket. Mostly in test cricket, it is more normal to see a team winning by a very large margin.
But in white-ball format, it is very rare. A win margin of 300 or more is always massive, which is why there are only four occasions when a team wins by a 300+ margin in ODIs. However, we will talk here about teams that have won by a 300-plus margin in tests and ODIs. Notably, there are only three such teams.
3. Zimbabwe
It will be hard to believe that Zimbabwe is also on this list. But yes, they are one of the three teams with a win margin of 300 runs in both Tests and ODIs. The biggest win margin for Zimbabwe in a test came against Bangladesh in Harare in April 2013, when they beat them by 335 runs. In ODIs, their biggest win margin is 304, which is against USA during the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2023.
2. Australia
Australia is also on this list, which is not a surprise as they are the only team to win by a margin of over 500 runs twice in test cricket. The Aussies have won 25 matches with a margin of 300 or more in test cricket. Their biggest win, which is also the second-biggest overall, came against England at the Oval in August 1934, when they won by 562 runs. In ODIs, Australia registered a win by 309 against Netherlands in World Cup 2023.
1. India
India is the only team to win over 300-plus margins multiple times in Tests and ODIs. They have won by margins of 317 and 302 in ODIs, and both wins came against Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, in Test cricket, India has registered 300-plus runs eight times. Their biggest win by 434 runs came against England in Rajkot most recently.
