LSG was very clear that they wanted Pant in the team. They spent INR 27 Crores on him. Meanwhile, a few other squads were also interested in him.
1) Royal Challengers Bengaluru
RCB and LSG went for a bidding war in the initial minutes for Pant. However, after the amount went past a stage, RCB pulled out of the race. Pant would have been a good signing for the franchise. Now, Virat Kohli is likely to lead the side but Pant might have been the choice had RCB signed the cricketer.
2) Sunrisers Hyderabad made an attempt to sign Rishabh Pant for IPL 2025
SRH is one of the teams which bid for Rishabh Pant in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions but couldn’t sign him. SRH did not have a great purse but was still aggressive in bidding for a few players. It was a surprise that they went so far for Pant because they already had a wicket-keeper and a captain. However, later, the franchise signed Ishan Kishan. It became clear that signing such a player was always in the plan for the franchise.
3) Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals had the RTM Card but before the bid came down for Rishabh Pant, they made a last attempt to sign the cricketer. However, LSG was interested and did not back down. DC was ready to use the RTM Card but INR 27 Cr was too much and hence, the franchise had to lose the cricketer who was their face for a few years.
