The Kiwi has returned home after suffering a groin injury on the field. GT had him as the backup middle-order batter. The trend has been that GT has gone for underrated cricketers. They could do that again.
1) Leus du Plooy
Not many India would have actually seen him bat. He is also not a regular at the international level. Yet, he is someone who could do well with his experience of operating in various T20 leagues. Hence, the left-hander is a part of this list.
2) Shai Hope can be Glenn Phillips’ replacement
Shai Hope is someone who has improved a lot as a white-ball cricketer in recent months. The West Indian cricketer is now the captain of the West Indies T20I side, as well. At No.4, he can be a very good choice for GT if Rutherford is not fit or if he is not doing well. Since he can also keep wickets, he would be a very good backup for Jos Buttler, as well.
3) Mark Chapman
Mark Chapman has been doing well at the international scene for a while now. He is a specialist in finishing games with his big-hitting. The Kiwi is also a handy spinner. While not many rate him, he could be a very useful choice to have in the side. You could tell that he can be a decent replacement for David Miller, who is now a part of LSG.
