T20 World Cup 2024 is just around the corner, and the deadline to declare the preliminary squad for the mega event is May 1. BCCI will have to announce a 15-man squad for the tournament in the coming week, and there is still a question mark over who will be the fast bowlers in the team.
Jasprit Bumrah is confirmed to be the new-ball bowler as well as the death bowler of the team. However, his partner is yet to be decided. With Mohammed Shami injured and Mohammed Siraj out of form, here’s a look at the three unexpected names who can share the new ball with Bumrah in the mega event for India.
1. T Natarajan can return for T20 World Cup 2024
India desperately needs a left-arm pacer who can be the X-factor for the side. They had Arshdeep Singh in 2022, but his performances have been inconsistent. Perhaps, T Natarajan can earn a recall to the T20I squad for the first time since 2021.
Natarajan has done a great job for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He can also bowl in the death overs for the team if needed.
2. Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar Kumar played for India in the 2021 and 2022 editions of the T20 World Cup. He can swing the ball both ways and has increased his pace as well. Hence, a recall could be on the cards for Kumar in the upcoming WC.
3. Khaleel Ahmed
Apart from T Natarajan, another left-arm fast bowler, who is in the race for this spot is DC’s Khaleel Ahmed. The left-arm quick has swung the ball well in this year’s IPL tournament. It should not be a surprise if BCCI gives him a chance to prove himself.
