Every year, we see some drastic changes happening in the batting orders of teams in IPL. Here, we take a look at the list of three youngsters who could be promoted as openers in IPL 2024.
It is always a good chance for youngsters if they can get a role as an opener. This way, they can make use of the powerplay and make their best contribution towards the team’s chances.
1) B Sai Sudharsan
A genuine opener, B Sai Sudharsan has had to play at No.3 in Gujarat Titans. However, it will be a big surprise if Sai is not slotted as an opener in IPL 2024. Wriddhiman Saha is close to retirement and GT must groom someone like Robin Minz, who is a middle-order batter. Also, if Sai bats at No.3, Kane Williamson has to come in at No.4, which might not be suitable for him. Hence, Sai could open the batting next season.
2) Ayush Badoni is one of the players who could be promoted as openers in IPL 2024
While Quinton de Kock played at No.3 in SA20 2024, Devdutt Padikkal also played at No.3 for Karnataka in the domestic events. LSG would not want their openers to be both left-handed. This would then give the opposition right-arm off-spinners a chance. With KL Rahul set to bat in the middle-order, we could see someone like Ayush Badoni open the batting.
3) Sameer Rizvi
Sameer Rizvi is one of the youngsters who could be promoted as openers in IPL 2024. Yes, Rizvi is a middle-order batter and good against the spinners. But, he is also good against the other types of bowling. In the middle-order, he might not get many chances. While Rachin Ravindra is likely to open, we cannot rule out MS Dhoni bringing out a surprise.
