IPL’s new rule allows teams to retain Indians who have not played international cricket in the last five years as uncapped cricketers. Here, we take a look at the list of four capped spinners who could be retained as uncapped players before the IPL 2025 Auctions.
Retaining these players at INR 4 Cr is a big coup for the teams. If the player is suitable to the combination, it will make sense of the teams to retain these players.
1) Piyush Chawla
Piyush Chawla is on this list of capped spinners who could be retained as uncapped players before the IPL 2025 Auctions. He was brilliant in IPL 2023 and helped Mumbai Indians reach the playoffs. An experienced cricketer, Piyush can be a name that MI can discuss during their retention meetings.
2) Amit Mishra is one of the uncapped players for IPL 2025
Amit Mishra last played for India in 2016. With the Impact Player Rule staying, it can be a case for him to continue in the IPL. Lucknow Super Giants could consider the veteran in this regard.
3) Karn Sharma
Karn Sharma is on this list of capped spinners who could be retained as uncapped players before the IPL 2025 Auctions. Karn had a bad first half in IPL 2024. However, he stepped up in the second half for RCB. He helped the team in reaching the playoffs. He has also developed his batting skills now. Hence, he is a worthy contender.
4) Mayank Markhande is also one of the uncapped players for IPL 2025
The Punjab youngster last played for India in 2019. Hence, he is also eligible for this rule. SRH could retain two uncapped players to add balance to the side. Retaining Mayank will give them an advantage of having a decent spin bowler even before they enter the auctions. Hence, Mayank can be an option for the franchise.
