IPL 2024 Auction will happen on December 19, with the fate of more than 1,000 players set to be decided by the 10 franchises. 1,166 players have registered for this season’s player auction, but it should be pertinent to note that only 77 spots are open in the teams, with only 30 being those of foreign players.
The BCCI allows the players to set their own base price for the auction. While some high-profile names have opted for the 2 crore and 1.5 crore base price, some top players have smartly kept their base price low so that more teams bid for them. Here are four such players.
1. Rachin Ravindra has set his base price 50 lakh for IPL 2024 Auction
New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra performed brilliantly on Indian pitches in the 2023 World Cup. Ravindra can bat in top-order and bowl left-arm spin. He could have easily earned a contract even at 2 crore, but he has kept his base price at 50 lakh.
2. Shivam Mavi has set his base price 50 lakh for IPL 2024 Auction
Indian fast bowler Shivam Mavi has also set his base price at 50 lakh only. Mavi is a capped Indian cricketer and could have kept his base price at 2 crore, but the pacer has only kept it at 50 lakh.
3. KS Bharat
Another capped Indian cricketer to feature on the list is KS Bharat, who emerged as a match-winner for RCB in 2021. Bharat is present in the 50 lakh category for the auction as well.
4. Daryl Mitchell
Like Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell had a fantastic 2023 World Cup campaign with the New Zealand cricket team. Mitchell knows the Indian conditions well, and most importantly, he scored two centuries against India in the 2023 World Cup. Hence, all IPL teams should be interested in him, especially with his base price being 1 crore INR.
