Rachin Ravindra’s father has refuted speculations that his son’s name was a deliberate combination of Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar. The 23-year-old cricketer has been making waves in the cricket world, contributing significantly to New Zealand’s journey to the semi-final with an impressive record of 565 runs in nine innings, including three centuries and two fifties.

Contrary to the popular narrative linking Rachin’s name to the cricket legends, his father, Ravi Krishnamurthy, clarified that the name was chosen without the intention of honoring Dravid and Tendulkar. According to Krishnamurthy, when Rachin was born, his wife suggested the name, and they found it appealing due to its simplicity and ease of spelling.

In a conversation with The Print, Krishnamurthy explained, “The name sounded good, was easy to spell, and short, so we decided to go with it. It was only some years later that we realized the name was a mix of Rahul and Sachin’s names. He wasn’t named with the intention to make our child a cricketer or anything of the sort.”

Interestingly, Rachin had previously mentioned that his name was indeed inspired by Rahul and Sachin. However, his father emphasized that the decision was spontaneous, and they did not discuss it extensively at the time of naming.
