Nehal Wadhera was key in Punjab Kings’ victory over LSG. Here, we take a look at the list of four teams which bid for Nehal Wadhera in the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions before PBKS signed him.
Quite a few teams wanted the Punjab cricketer in the middle order. It turned out to be a good move for PBKS, who now have a solid left-hander in the middle order.
1) Chennai Super Kings
CSK wanted the services of Nehal Wadhera for this season. He would have been a good fit for the side. Nehal is someone who can play at various slots. This flexibility would have allowed CSK to field a better combination in the tournament. The likes of Deepak Hooda or Vijay Shankar would have then not been needed.
2) Delhi Capitals wanted Nehal Wadhera for IPL 2025
DC had a fixed strategy to go after some young Indian middle-order batters. Hence, they tried to sign Nehal Wadhera. However, DC had already spent money on the other areas and therefore, they could no go further in their bid to sign the talented cricketer from Punjab.
3) Lucknow Super Giants
LSG needed one extra Indian middle-order batter. However, they already had too many left-handers in the middle order. Therefore, although they tried, they were not desperate for Nehal.
4) Gujarat Titans also wanted Nehal Wadhera for IPL 2025
For GT, there was a need to pick a left-hander for the No.4 slot. Eventually, they signed Anuj Rawat and Mahipal Lomror. However, Nehal would have been a better pick for the side on current form.
