Shubman Gill is all set to make his IPL captaincy debut in the upcoming season. He will lead the Gujarat Titans this time as Hardik Pandya has left for the Mumbai Indians. Interestingly, Gill is just 24 years old, which means that he was just eight years old when IPL started.
MS Dhoni was the captain of the Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural IPL season, and he is set to captain CSK in the upcoming season as well. There are five such players who once played under Dhoni for India or CSK, and now, they will play under Gill in IPL 2024.
1. Umesh Yadav will play under Shubman Gill in IPL 2024
Experienced fast bowler Umesh Yadav has moved from Kolkata Knight Riders to Gujarat Titans for the 2024 IPL season. Yadav will be seen playing under Gill’s leadership for the Titans.
2. Mohammed Shami will play under Shubman Gill in IPL 2024
Mohammed Shami is another experienced pacer who will be in action for the Gujarat Titans this season. It will be interesting to see how Shami performs under Gill’s leadership.
3. Mohit Sharma
Mohit Sharma, Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami formed India’s pace attack in the 2015 World Cup under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. Sharma joined GT last year and will continue donning the Titans jersey this year.
4. Jayant Yadav
Experienced Indian all-rounder Jayant Yadav made his ODI debut for India under MS Dhoni’s captaincy in 2016. Yadav will be in action for GT again under Gill’s captaincy.
5. Wriddhiman Saha
Veteran wicketkeeper batter Wriddhiman Saha once competed with Dhoni for a place in Indian team. He also played under Dhoni for CSK. Now, he will play under Gill for the Titans.
