Zimbabwe is one of the 12 Test-playing nations in the world of cricket. The African nation once had a strong lineup, but they have been very inconsistent of late. In 2023, the ODI World Cup Qualifiers happened in their home cities, but they could not qualify for the mega event.
Nevertheless, they have proven themselves as giant killers time and again. In 2024, the African team has recorded wins over India and Pakistan. In fact, some players born outside Zimbabwe have also moved to this country and played for them. Here’s a list of five such players.
1. England-born Ben Curran is playing for Zimbabwe
The brother of Sam Curran and Tom Curran, Ben Curran recently moved to the African nation. Ben was born in Northampton, but plays for the African team because his father Kevin also played for the team.
2. Pakistan-born Sikandar Raza is playing for Zimbabwe
Sikandar Raza is one of the most talented all-rounders in the world. He was born in Sialkot, Punjab, but he plays for the African side, and he has even captained the team.
3. John Traicos
77-year-old former cricketer John Traicos is always a part of a popular question in cricket quiz. He was born in Egypt, but he represented both South Africa and Zimbabwe in his Test career.
4. Faraz Akram
It is rare to see a cricketing talent emerging from Saudi Arabia, but Faraz Akram is one of them. Faraz is a left-handed batter and right-arm medium pace, who represents the African nation in cricket now.
5. Antum Naqvi
Another lesser-known cricketing nation to feature on the list is Belgium, whose player Antum Naqvi plays for the African nation. Many Indian fans would remember that Naqvi was in the squad during the five-match series played earlier this year.
