IPL 2023 Auctions will be interesting because most teams have similar holes to fill. Hence, there will be a few players who would have many suitors. We take a look at five such players in this article.
1) Sam Curran
Teams that could target the player: Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals
Sam Curran is one of the players who will be targeted for IPL 2023 by at least four to five franchises. The English all-rounder missed IPL 2022 as he was recovering from an injury. However, he is all set to return to the event next season. Considering he has done well in recent campaigns, Curran will be chased by many. He is a good all-rounder and since he offers left-arm pace, he will be in the idea of many teams.
2) Ben Stokes
Teams that could target the player: Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals
Ben Stokes pulled out of IPL 2022 because he wanted to focus more on Test cricket. While it is uncertain if he would return to the competition, the bid will hit the roof if Stokes makes himself available for the event. A quality all-rounder is a rarity these days and Ben Stokes happens to be one of the best in the business. He is also a left-handed batter, which further increases his demand.
3) Colin Munro
Teams that could target the player: Royal Challengers Bangalore, Lucknow Super Giants, Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals
Colin Munro is also one of the players who will be targeted for IPL 2023 by at least four to five franchises. If Stokes is not available, based on current form, teams could get behind Colin Munro. Although the Kiwi offers less value with the ball, he is good with the bat. Most importantly, he can operate in the middle-order, and there are many teams that require a left-handed middle-order batter.
4) Dinesh Bana
Teams that could target the player: Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Sunrisers Hyderabad
A domestic wicket-keeper is priceless and hence, there is usually a lot of money spent on them. A few teams might target Indian U19 star Dinesh Bana for the same reason. There might be other squads like CSK that could see Dinesh as a product for the future. Hence, the teenager is likely to have good number of bidders.
5) Dasun Shanaka
Teams that could target the player: Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals
Dasun Shanaka has shown his specialisation of batting at the death. He has good experience and can also provide a few overs of medium pace. Considering his current form, there would be a couple of teams that will target him to be the backup for the middle-order. Some teams like SRH could even target him for the starting XI.
