Gujarat Titans have got a new headache as they have to sign the replacement of Mohammed Shami. According to reports, the star Indian pacer will miss the entire IPL 2024 season due to injury, which is why GT need a new player who can lead the pace attack of the team.
Shami played a big role in GT’s success in the first two IPL seasons of the team. He even won the Purple Cap award. Hence, GT will have to think a lot while signing the replacement of Mohammed Shami. Here are five possible options.
1. Varun Aaron can be the replacement of Mohammed Shami
Varun Aaron has been a part of the GT squad before. He won the IPL 2022 trophy with the franchise. Perhaps, GT can give him one more chance to showcase his talent as a replacement signing now.
2. Siddarth Kaul can be the replacement of Mohammed Shami
Siddarth Kaul played a major role in SRH’s journey to the final in 2018. With a ton of experience under his belt, the right-arm pacer can be a valuable addition to GT.
3. Barinder Sran
In 2022, Mohit Sharma and Barinder Sran were net bowlers for GT. In 2023, Sharma became a match-winner for the team. Perhaps, 2024 can be the year of Sran, who has played for India at the international level in the past.
4. Sarfaraz Khan
Gujarat Titans have a weak middle-order due to the departure of Hardik Pandya. With Umesh Yadav, Spencer Johnson, Josh Little, Mohit Sharma and Darshan Nalkande available to bowl pace, GT can instead invest in a middle-order batter by roping in Sarfaraz Khan.
5. Karun Nair
Karun Nair has been waiting for a chance to prove himself again, but he has not received a fair chance. GT can give the experienced middle-order batter a place in their team and back them to do the job for them in IPL 2024.
