Quite a few fans have also opined that there is an extreme overdose of bilateral cricket matches. To make things fresh again and to draw new audiences, the stakeholders should think of reviving some of the old tournaments.

    It could either be a multi-team event or an exhibition series. Here’s a list of the six cricket tournaments which should make a return soon.

    1. Champions League T20 Cricket

    The concept of Champions League T20 was top-notch, but the execution was not the best. BCCI and ICC should think of reviving the tournament with a different format, where franchises from different parts of the world can compete.

    2. Afro-Asia Cup

    There have been talks of bringing the Afro-Asia Cup back, where the best XI from Africa competes with the best XI from Asia. It will be interesting to see if the tournament returns in the near future.

    3. Hong Kong Cricket Sixes

    Hong Kong Sixes was a unique tournament, where the focus was to hit as many runs as possible in six-a-side matches. Even India participated in that multi-nation competition.

    4. Beach Cricket

    The die-hard fans of the sport would have watched this tri-series played at the beaches. With different teams, this could be an exciting format of the game.

    5. Super Test

    The winner of the World Test Championship could play a one-off game or a three-match series against the World XI. It can be called the Super Test which happened in 2005 between Australia and World XI.

    6. British Asian Cup

    In case you don’t remember, the British Asian Cup happened in 2009 where the T20 Blast champions played against the IPL winners. A similar concept could be reintroduced involving IPL and another league.
