CSK could not qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs. Despite being the defending champions of the tournament, the Chennai Super Kings failed to finish in the Top 4 of the points table. Royal Challengers Bengaluru knocked CSK out of the tournament with a defeat at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium two nights ago.
It was a campaign full of ups and downs for the Super Kings. They made too many changes this time due to injuries and unavailability of players. Still, the following six names from the CSK squad returned home without playing a match in IPL 2024.
1. Aravelly Avanish did not get a match for CSK in IPL 2024
Aravelly Avanish was the backup wicketkeeper present in the Chennai Super Kings. Although there were reports of MS Dhoni having a muscle tear, Avanish did not keep the wickets in any games.
2. Shaik Rasheed did not get a match for CSK in IPL 2024
19-year-old batter Shaik Rasheed warmed the benches for the entire season at CSK. He can also bowl leg-breaks if needed, but Chennai did not use him in any of the games.
3. Rajvardhan Hangargekar did not get a match for CSK in IPL 2024
Pace-bowling all-rounder Rajvardhan Hangargekar bowled an impressive spell in the IPL 2023 season opener against Gujarat Titans. However, he did not get picked in the match squad this time.
4. Ajay Mandal
Another uncapped all-rounder to feature on the list is Ajay Mandal. He is a left-arm spinner and left-handed batter, but Ravindra Jadeja was the team’s preferred player for this role.
5. Nishant Sindhu
19-year-old Nishant Sindhu did not get any IPL exposure on the field this year. He can also bat left-handed and bowl left-arm spin, but he warmed the benches.
6. Prashant Solanki
The only specialist CSK bowler who did not get a game this season was Prashant Solank. The right-arm leg-spinner debuted in 2022 but watched all matches from the bench this year.
