T20 World Cup 2022 is underway in Australia at the moment, and there are 16 teams participating in this year’s mega event. Former champions Pakistan are among the 16 nations. Interestingly though, there are some players who were born in Pakistan or have Pakistani background but will not play for the Men in Green in the mega event.
Here is a list of six such Pakistan origin cricketers who are playing for another nation in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022 tournament.
1. Junaid Siddique, UAE
UAE’s right-arm fast-medium bowler Junaid Siddique was born in Multan. He is a 29-year-old fast bowler who played in all three group stage matches for the UAE this year and even took three wickets against Netherlands.
2. Zahoor Khan, UAE
Another UAE player to feature on the list is the team’s fast bowler Zahoor Khan. Born in Faisalabad, Zahoor took five wickets in three matches for the UAE.
3. Adil Rashid, England
Unlike the first two names on the list Adil Rashid was not born in the Asian country, but he is of that background. Rashid is a part of the England squad in the mega event.
4. Moeen Ali, England
Some fans call England a world XI because they have cricketers from different parts of the world. One of them is Moeen Ali who is also of Pakistani background.
5. Sikandar Raza, Zimbabwe
Pakistan and Zimbabwe regularly play bilateral cricket against each other. One of the Pakistan-born players who plays for Zimbabwe is Sikandar Raza, who is the team’s best player.
6. Kashif Daud, UAE
UAE’s squad featured multiple players from India and its neighboring country. Kashif Daud, who is a bowling all-rounder, was born in Sialkot. He had a forgettable campaign at this year’s T20 World Cup as he failed to take any wickets and scored only 15 runs.
