ILT20 2024 (International League T20 season two) is currently underway in the United Arab Emirates. It is the second edition of the league, and Gulf Giants are the defending champions. Five other franchises, namely Sharjah Warriors, Dubai Capitals, MI Emirates, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders and Desert Vipers are playing in the tournament.
This is the premier T20 league of the United Arab Emirates, with several prominent names of international cricket participating. Some retired cricketers are also playing in ILT20. Here’s a list of six such retired players:
1. Martin Guptill is playing in ILT20 2024
Martin Guptill silently retired from international cricket and even participated in Legends League Cricket last year. He is playing for the Sharjah Warriors team in ILT20 right now.
2. Ambati Rayudu is playing in ILT20 2024
Ambati Rayudu will make his International League T20 debut this year for the MI Emirates team. He has played for Mumbai Indians in the past, and now he will play for the MI Emirates.
3. Corey Anderson
Another former Mumbai Indians star who will play for MI Emirates in ILT20 this year is Corey Anderson. The swashbuckling Kiwi had announced retirement from international cricket in 2020.
4. Dwayne Bravo
Dwayne Bravo is the bowling coach of CSK in IPL. However, in ILT20, the former West Indies captain plays for the MI Emirates team.
5. Imad Wasim
Former Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim surprised the world by announcing retirement recently. Wasim soon signed a deal with the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in ILT20.
6. Mohammad Amir
Former Pakistan speedster Mohammad Amir is also a part of this competition. Amir plays for the Desert Vipers team alongside Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi.
