Johannesburg Super Kings will make their debut in the SA20 League this year. It is owned by four-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings‘ parent company. JSK have roped in some ex-CSK stars like Faf du Plessis and Albie Morkel (coach) for the tournament.
To ensure that there is more attention from CSK fans on the SA20 League, the Johannesburg Super Kings could rope in a few retired Indian players who were once a part of the Chennai Super Kings team. Here’s a list of six such names.
1. Suresh Raina could play for Johannesburg Super Kings
Suresh Raina announced his retirement from domestic cricket and IPL earlier today. He is eligible to play in foreign T20 leagues now, meaning he could don the JSK jersey in SA20 League.
2. Rahul Sharma could play for Johannesburg Super Kings
Rahul Sharma recently called it a day on his domestic and IPL career. The right-arm leg-spinner was with CSK in 2015. He will play in Road Safety World Series soon, and looking at his performance, JSK could make a call.
3. MS Gony could play for Johannesburg Super Kings
Manpreet Singh Gony played a main role in CSK’s success during the inaugural season. He could do a similar job for JSK in their debut SA20 League season.
4. Harbhajan Singh
Having played a lot of cricket in South Africa in the past, former Chennai Super Kings off-spinner Harbhajan Singh could return for JSK in SA20 League. He will play in RSWS and Legends League T20 soon. Depending on his performance, he could earn a call-up.
5. Sudeep Tyagi
Former CSK fast bowler Sudeep Tyagi will play in the LLC tournament as well. If he can prove his fitness, he could be a good addition to the JSK squad.
6. Irfan Pathan
While Irfan Pathan never played a match for CSK, he was with the squad in 2015. Pathan has done well in Legends League and RSWS. He could play a few matches for JSK if the franchise needs him.
