2023 saw the ODI World Cup being successfully held in India. The hosts qualified for the finals but couldn’t carry on the momentum. Australia went on to beat undefeated India in the final and win their sixth World title in a grand manner.
It was Travis Head who snatched the victory from India. He smashed a brilliant ton in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium and led his country to glory. Head has been brilliant for his team across formats and has had consistent performances.
All the ODIs have been played in 2023, and Shubman Gill ended the year with the most runs, while Virat Kohli scored the most ODI tons in 2023. Recently, Star Sports released the “ODI Team of the Year,” and surprisingly, Travis Head is not part of the team. There are 8 Indian players in the playing XI, which was a surprise.

Rohit has scored 1255 runs, while Gill has made 1584 ODI runs in 2021. At No. 3, Virat Kohli is on the team with 1377 runs and 6 tons. Kiwi all-rounder Daryl Mitchell is at No. 4 with 1204 ODI runs in the year. He is followed by KL Rahul (1060) and South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen (927 runs).
Star Sports has picked Adam Zampa and Kuldeep Yadav as two spinners in the team. Zampa has 38 wickets, while Kuldeep has picked up the most (49) wickets in 2023. For the pace bowling, Star Sports has picked up India’s trio of Jaspirt Bumrah (28), Mohammed Siraj (44) and Mohammed Shami (43).
