According to The Times Of India, Harbhajan started saying that the series of Sri Lanka played last month; didn’t gain anything for the Indian team. Moreover, he believed that it just served them a little purpose. He added saying that some of the Indian players who represent themselves in the test squad, should’ve gone to South Africa earlier.

Dharamshala: A place for preparation

The turbanator also believed that playing at Dharamsala would have helped them perform well in South Africa. Dharamsala has high altitude, cooler weather, and seam movement along with bounce. This would have given them an ideal preparation before playing against a tough team like South Africa; he added.

Ever since the 1st match played at South Africa, there was a controversy going on about Ajinkya Rahane. Kohli who did not select him for the first two matches, was questioned for that matter. Harbhajan has now made a comment on this too. He told that the average of Rahane is less than 30 of 40 test matches being played under Kohli. Hence, he felt that there is no guaraantee on the team performing well if Rahane had been selected.

“I was checking a few stats. Under Virat, Ajinkya’s average is less than 40 over 30 Tests. Also last one year he didn’t score that many runs”.

“What if Ajinkya played and India were down 0-2, then would we have said that please bring Rohit. One needs to understand the captain’s point of view also!”

Bhuvi should have been selected

Bhajji also believed that Bhuvaneshwar Kumar is a big match winner as of now. So he prefers him; performance wise while compared to Ishant Sharma. He also said that the Indian team had performed well; whenever he has done the same.

“Bhuvi is a bigger match-winner in today’s date compared to Ishant Sharma. Whenever Bhuvi has performed, India have done well.

The team has to stay positive

Harbhajan concluded saying that, the team should reamain positive! He still believes that the team can make it 2-1 by making a comeback in Johannesberg. There is nothing to lose and there is everything to gain! So they have to go for it, he adviced.

“My advice to the team would be to remain positive. There is nothing to lose and everything to gain. So we should go for it!”
