Shardul Thakur has become the talk of the town after his excellent performance with the bat in the first innings of the Kennington Oval Test match against the England cricket team. After coming out to bat at number eight for the Indian cricket team, Shardul scored 57 runs off 36 deliveries, smashing seven fours and three sixes.
Before his inning, it seemed like the England cricket team would bowl out the Indian cricket team for a total under 150 runs. But thanks to Thakur’s batting performance, the Indian cricket team ended with 191 runs in their first innings. Thakur spoke to the press via a virtual press conference after yesterday’s play.
During that virtual press conference, Shardul Thakur addressed the various nicknames he got. His teammates in the Indian cricket team have been teasing him as ‘Beefy’ because he bettered the record for the fastest Test fifty by Ian Botham. Meanwhile, the meme community on social media has given him the nickname of Lord. Talking about the same, Shardul said:
“I have only two nicknames, Lord is just a meme started in social media but I am pretty happy that I am getting lots of love from the teammates & fans across the world.”
🎥 @imShard is happy with the love he’s getting from his teammates & not to forget some legendary nicknames 😉
