Ravi Shastri unlikely to continue after T20 WC

Ravi Shastri’s tenure is unlikely to be renewed after the T20 World Cup. The coach himself does not seem to be inclined towards signing a new contract. Although Team India has become stronger under Shastri, India is devoid of an ICC trophy with him at the helm. Hence, both Shastri and BCCI could part ways after the event.

Virat Kohli has announced that he would step down from the T20I captaincy for the upcoming event. Hence, to begin preparations for another T20 World Cup in 2022, BCCI could also go ahead with the move.

Speaking on Sports Tak, he said, “Rahul as a coach, MS as the mentor is going to be a boon for Indian cricket. Both are cool and calm customers and one person is very studious and hard-working. More importantly, the number of players that are evolving right now have been groomed by Rahul, who was India A coach also.”

Rahul Dravid was the coach of the Indian Team that toured recently. MS Dhoni will be the mentor of the squad that will play at the upcoming T20 World Cup.
