India scripted history by lifting the maiden T20 World Cup title in 2007 under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Since then, the Men in Blue are yet to taste another T20 title, and they will give it another shot in 2022. Even though Team India are yet to win another T20 World Cup title, they have performed well over the years in the most entertaining format of the game.
India have used nine captains in the T20 format as of date, and each leader has contributed in some manner. While some led the side for a long time, there have been some who lead the team for a short period of time due to various reasons. However, they didn’t let that hurt the performance of the team and did their part.
In this listicles, we will look at three Indian captains who have never lost a T20I game as a captain:-
1) Virender Sehwag
Many people are unaware of the fact that Virender Sehwag led Team India in their first ever T20I game. Playing against South Africa in 2006, India registered a 6-wicket victory. Later, MS Dhoni took the leadership duty and led the side to the T20 World Cup title in 2007. Unfortunately, Sehwag never got another chance to lead the national side in the shortest format of the game.
2) Suresh Raina
Once a promising talent, Suresh Raina had his chances to lead the Indian side when senior players were rested. Captaining in three games, Raina maintained an unbeaten record as a captain. However, as his batting form dipped, he lost his position in the team, and never got another opportunity to lead his country.
3) Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya’s leadership skills recently came into the limelight when he took Gujarat Titans to the IPL title in their maiden season in 2022. As a reward, the management gifted him the stage to lead the Men in Blue when regular captain Rohit Sharma was given a rest during the Ireland tour. India has won all three games under his leadership till date, and management would be keen to picture him as the future captain.
