Gujarat Titans stunned the world by winning the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. Coach Ashish Nehra and captain Hardik Pandya realized the full potential of the available resources and ensured that GT not only topped the points table in their first season but also won the championship.
GT have retained a majority of their players from the last season. However, they let go of ace speedster Lockie Ferguson and young wicket-keeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz. They have a few vacant spots in their squad, and here are five foreign players whom the Gujarat Titans could target.
1. Gujarat Titans can target Jason Holder
GT proved one thing in IPL 2022, and that is they know how to bring the best out of their players. Jason Holder was underused by Lucknow Super Giants last season, but he could be an asset for Gujarat if the team management uses his talent to perfection.
2. Gujarat Titans can target Chris Lynn
Chris Lynn has registered himself for the upcoming IPL Auction with a base price of 2 crore. GT have released both Jason Roy and Rahmanullah Gurbaz. They can sign Lynn as a backup opener.
3. Gujarat Titans can target Kusal Perera
GT have retained both Matthew Wade and Wriddhiman Saha for IPL 2023. They would like to add a young wicket-keeping option as well. Kusal Perera can be that wicket-keeper opener for the team.
4. Ben Stokes
If GT wish to use their entire auction purse on one player, they can go hard for someone like Ben Stokes. He can be a fantastic addition to the team’s top-order and pace attack.
5. Mujeeb ur Rahman
GT will play 9 of their 18 league games in Ahmedabad, one in Chennai. The conditions at this venue will assist the slower bowlers, and a player like Mujeeb ur Rahman can prove to be a match-winner. The combo of Rashid Khan and Mujeeb would give nightmares to the opposition teams.
