R Ashwin has announced his retirement from international cricket. Here, we take a look at the list of three players who could get a chance in Team India after R Ashwin’s retirement.
One of the greatest match-winners for Team India, Ashwin’s announcement will be a tough pill for fans to digest. He surely had a few more months of international cricket left in him. Washington Sundar will be his obvious successor but the youngster is yet to show consistency. Hence, India will have to work hard to find an able right-arm off-spinner to replace Ashwin.
1) Tanush Kotian
It is the right time to groom Tanush Kotian. He surely has the potential to become a serial wicket-taker at the Test level. His batting abilities would further add justice to his case. The Mumbai man must pick himself up and do better in the ongoing Ranji season to put across a firm case.
2) Saransh Jain can be selected after R Ashwin’s retirement
Saransh Jain is one of the players who could get a chance in Team India after R Ashwin‘s retirement. The Madhya Pradesh cricketer has been a part of the India A games in the recent times. He is 31 years old but is definitely a good backup to have for Sundar. If Sundar misses out due to an injury, Saransh can be groomed as the ready backup for him.
3) Riyan Parag
The focus could be on Riyan Parag to build on his bowling skills. He definitely has the potential but he has to improve it to make himself a wicket-taking bowler. Of course, with his batting skills, he will always be an asset to the side. Hence, despite being a batting all-rounder, he is a part of this list.
