Gujarat Titans have retained five players ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. The IPL 2022 champions have opted to retain Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan before the mega auction. They will enter the auction with a purse of 69 crore.
Gill will captain the side, while Rashid, Sudharsan, Tewatia and Shahrukh will be confirmed in the playing XI as well. There are six other spots, which GT will have to fill at the auction to assemble a stellar playing XI. With 69 crore available in the purse, here’s a look at the strongest XI which Gujarat Titans can target for the new season.
Openers of Gujarat Titans – Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan
The right hand-left hand duo of Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan should continue opening the innings for the Titans. Both batters have had some great partnerships at the top for GT. No one can forget how they destroyed CSK at Narendra Modi Stadium in IPL 2024. Thus, they should continue as openers.
Middle Order – Ishan Kishan (wk), Marcus Stoinis, Liam Livingstone, Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan
GT need a solid wicketkeeper now that they have released Wriddhiman Saha and Matthew Wade. The best option available is Ishan Kishan, who is also a close friend of captain Gill. GT need two quality all-rounders in their team, and the best suitable options will be Marcus Stoinis and Liam Livingstone.
With Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan already retained, GT have a fantastic lower middle-order. They can change the batting positions, depending on the match’s situation.
Bowlers – Harshal Patel, Noor Ahmad (RTM), Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Navdeep Saini (Impact Player)
One of the strengths of GT has been their spin attack. GT should use the RTM for Noor Ahmad, who can form a deadly spin duo with Rashid Khan. Underrated Indian pacers Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Navdeep Saini should be available for bargain prices at the auction. GT should rope them in and assemble a wicket-taking pace trio for the season.
