Former Indian cricket team opener Aakash Chopra recently formed his best IPL 2022 playing XI. Interestingly, there was no place for Umran Malik in the team. Malik won the Emerging Player of the Season award for scalping 22 wickets in the SunRisers Hyderabad jersey during IPL 2022.
After his impressive performance in IPL 2022, Umran Malik also earned his maiden call-up to the national squad. However, Aakash Chopra picked another Indian fast bowler instead of Malik. He also gave a reason behind the exclusion of Malik, Mohsin Khan and Prasidh Krishna from his team.

Speaking on his official YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said that he did not pick Mohsin Khan, Umran Malik and Prasidh Krishna because Lucknow Super Giants pacer Avesh Khan had fewer bad days compared to the other three bowlers. He also picked Arshdeep Singh ahead of the aforementioned three Indian pace bowlers. Here’s what he had to say:
“Avesh Khan is in my side. I was thinking about Mohsin Khan, Umran and Prasidh Krishna but I am still going with Avesh Khan – fewer bad days. After that, I have gone with Mohammed Shami, he was unbelievable.”

Aakash Chopra picked IPL 2022 Orange Cap winner Jos Buttler as his first player. The other batters of his team were LSG’s KL Rahul, SRH’s Rahul Tripathi and GT’s David Miller. He stacked up the team with all-rounders Hardik Pandya, Liam Livingstone and Andre Russell. The four bowlers of his team were Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan and Purple Cap winner Yuzvendra Chahal.
