Despite India securing a comfortable victory against the hosts, Hardik faced significant backlash from numerous fans due to an unusual incident.

In the closing moments of the match, as the skipper, he chose to hit a six on the final ball to complete the chase. This decision raised criticism, as the non-striker Tilak Varma required only a single run to achieve his half-century.

Amid the heated critique and ongoing debate, the esteemed former South African captain and cricket legend, AB de Villiers, expressed his viewpoint in response to a tweet by commentator Harsha Bhogle.

Harsha Bhogle tweeted that he found the debate about Tilak Varma missing out on a 50 perplexing. He mentioned that it’s not a significant milestone and apart from a century, there are no notable milestones in T20 cricket.

He also pointed out that the obsession on personal accomplishments in a team sport is excessive, and he didn’t believe 50s should be highlighted in individual T20 stats. According to him, what truly matters is having scored enough runs at a good pace (average and strike rate).
