In a disappointing development for Indian cricket fans, Ajinkya Rahane has dropped below Colin de Grandhomme on the ICC Test Rankings for batters. Rahane is one of the top batters in India right now, but his recent form has not been up to the mark. After he could not impress much against England, South Africa and New Zealand, the veteran batter lost his place in the Test squad.

Rahane is set to miss the upcoming ICC World Test Championship series against the Sri Lankan cricket team. The selectors have advised him to play first-class cricket and regain his form.

In the latest ICC Test Rankings released earlier today, Rahane dropped outside the Top 30 of the batting charts. He was 30th last week but now he is down to 31st. He dropped by one place because of Colin de Grandhomme’s rise. The New Zealand all-rounder has risen from 42nd to 26th position on the ICC Test Rankings for batters.

The reason behind de Grandhomme’s rise is his century against the South African cricket team. In the Christchurch Test match, the all-rounder scored 120 runs in the first innings. His brilliant performance has taken him above the likes of Temba Bavuma, Angelo Mathews, Tamim Iqbal, KL Rahul, Niroshan Dickwella and Shakib Al Hasan.

Ajinkya Rahane slipped on the ICC Test Rankings but Rishabh Pant inched closer to Top 10

While Rahane dropped from 30th to 31st position, wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant has improved his position on the ICC Test Rankings for batters. He has climbed from 12th to 11th position. Even David Warner has risen from 11th to 10th position.

Marnus Labuschagne continues to be the number one batter on the ICC Test Rankings, whereas Joe Root and Steve Smith are right behind him. Smith recently overtook Kane Williamson to enter the Top 3 of the ICC Test Rankings.
