This tournament has a total of six teams, which will play 19 games against each other, including the final. Four of the six franchises are the owners of the IPL teams. The CSK-owned Texas Super Kings kicked off their campaign with a win over the KKR-owned Los Angeles Knight Riders on Thursday.

It started with LAKR captain Sunil Narine winning the toss and putting TSK to bat first. Texas lost skipper Faf du Plessis for a golden duck. But Devon Conway and David Miller scored crucial half-centuries to take their team to a challenging total of 181/6 in the first inning.

Conway made 55 off 37, while Miller scored a 42-ball 61 with two fours and four sixes. Chasing the target, Los Angeles had a horrible start. They lost four wickets for just 20 runs in 3.1 overs. Andre Russell tried hard and smashed 55 off 34, but he didn’t get much support from the other end.

For TKR, it was Pakistan-born spinner Mohammad Mohsin who changed the game through his magical spell. The 27-year-old bowled three overs and picked up four wickets for just eight runs. He finished the inning by cleaning up the tail and dismissing Corne Dry, Adam Zampa, Lockie Ferguson, and skipper Sunil Narine.

Who is Mohammad Mohsin?

Mohsin was born in Peshawar, Pakistan, and played his first-class match during the 2015 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy but couldn’t pick up any wickets in his debut game. Later, he made his List-A debut after three years. He has played seven games and taken eight wickets at an average of 25.62 in first-class cricket.

In his List-A career, he has eight wickets in seven games at an economy rate of 4.97. He has also played in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Peshawar Zalmi in 2020. Mohsin made his PSL debut against the Karachi Kings and took 1/35. He graduated in Computer Science from the University of Engineering and Technology in Peshawar.
