It has been a record-breaking day for the Indian team as they have thrashed the Pakistani bowlers to all parts of the ground and posted their highest total against them in 50-over cricket. Starting from 147/2 in 24.1 overs, Team India didn’t lose a wicket and ended up scoring 356/2 in the first innings.

Both Virat Kohli and KL Rahul smashed a century each and added an unbeaten stand of 233 runs in 32.1 overs. Yesterday, it looked like Pakistan had pulled things back after taking two wickets during the rain break.

But who would have thought that it was their best moment in the first inning? Rahul smashed his sixth ODI century in his comeback game. He completed his hundred off 100 balls and remained unbeaten on 111 runs off 106 balls, including 12 fours and two sixes.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli was in his full flow and completed his century off just 82 balls. He played an aggressive role in the partnership. Virat scored 122 runs off 94 balls, including nine fours and three sixes, and scored runs at a strike rate of 129.79.

During his innings, Virat also completed 13,000 runs in ODI cricket. He became the fifth batter to do so. Virat did it in his 267 innings, which is the fastest in terms of innings played. The former Indian captain broke the all-time record set by Sachin Tendulkar, who took 321 innings to reach this landmark.

Kumar Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting, and Sanath Jayasuriya are the other three batters to score 13,000 ODI runs. It was a massive achievement for Virat, who has some unbelievable numbers in ODIs. He is also just two centuries short of equaling Sachin’s record for most ODI hundreds. Sachin retired with 49 ODI hundreds, and Virat has already scored 47.
