Asghar Afghan breaks down in tears after retirement match in T20 World Cup 2021

Afganistan cricketer and former skipper Asghar Afghan was in tears after the batsman played his last ever International match for Afghanistan cricket team.

The former Afganistan cricket team captain Asghar Afghan had earlier announced that the match against Namibia will be his last ever International cricket match for his country.

Afganistan cricket team is today in action against the Namibia cricket team in the match 27 of the T20 World Cup 2021.

Afganistan cricket team, after having won the toss, batted first. During the inning, Afghan came to bat in the 10th over in between the Namibian cricket team‘s Guard of Honour for the former Afganistan skipper.

Asghar Afghan joined Mohammad Shahzad on the pitch and carried the Afganistan inning forward. He was the last man of the Afganistan inning to be dismissed on the 19th over and walked out of the field for the last time in between congratulations from the opponent team and then a Guard of Honour by Afganistan cricket team, who raised their bat for the Afganistan legend.

The scenes after the Afganistan inning was very emotional as the Afganistan cricket team batsman broke down in tears during the post inning interview.

Asghar Afghan wrote history for the team as he took the side from being a normal associate team to now a regular World Cup team. Asghar Afghan saw the teams grow its stature and helped the team in its bad days.

Asghar Afghan has been representing the Afganistan cricket team since 2009. He has so far played 114 ODI matches, 74 T20 Internationals and 6 Test matches in his luxurious career. He has scored 2424 runs in ODI cricket and 1351 and 440 runs in T20 International and in Test cricket respectively.

Afghan has for sure inspired a lot of Afganistanis to take up cricket as career. He has laid the foundation for the success for the Afganistan cricket team and it is now upto the youngsters to take the team forward.
