The Asia Cup 2022 is all set to get underway with Afghanistan taking on hosts Sri Lanka on 27 August in the tournament opener. On the very next day, the arch-rivals India and Pakistan will battle out for pride. The game is a huge crowd puller as the history of the rivalry has been legendary.
The tickets for the most-awaited India-Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup 2022 will go on sale on Monday (15 August), according to Asian Cricket Council. Announcing the same, the official body posted: “Ticket sales for Asia Cup 2022 go up for sale on August 15th. Visit the link below from Monday onwards to book your tickets:”.
The last time these two teams met was in the 2021 T20 World Cup, where India faced humiliation. The Babar Azam-led side dominated throughout to game to hand a 10-wicket defeat to the Men in Blue. Hence, Team India will be looking to take revenge for their last defeat, when they meet on 28th August.
The 2022 edition was earlier scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka. However, it was moved out of the country due to the ongoing economic crisis in the country. “Considering the prevailing situation in Sri Lanka, the ACC after extensive deliberation has unanimously concluded that it would be appropriate to relocate the tournament from Sri Lanka to UAE,” ACC had said in a statement.
It should also be noted that the 2022 edition will be played in a T20 format, unlike the last edition in 2018 which was played in the ODI structure. The multi-nation tournament will help the teams to better prepare for the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.
