Australia’s ODI tours of South Africa and India, as well as the World Cup, will see Pat Cummins leading the team, despite suffering a fractured wrist during the final Test of the Ashes series. The injury occurred while he was fielding during the first innings of the fifth Test at the Oval on July 27.

Although he played out the remainder of the Test match, he needs six weeks of recovery and will miss the T20I series in South Africa starting on August 30, followed by the five-match ODI series beginning on September 7.

Mitchell Marsh meanwhile has been appointed captain for the T20I series, while several players, including Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Cameron Green, David Warner, and Ashton Agar, will join the squad for the ODIs after missing the T20I leg.

However, Marnus Labuschagne, who has been a regular in Australia’s ODI squad for the last three years, has been left out of the upcoming tours and the World Cup.

The 18-man ODI squad will also feature newcomers Tanveer Sangha, a New South Wales legspinner, and Aaron Hardie, a Western Australia all-rounder, both of whom are yet to make their international debut.

Sangha, despite having dealt with stress fractures in his back, has experience touring with an Australia T20 squad in New Zealand. Hardie, on the other hand, has been a regular in Australia A squads over the last 18 months and has also been named in the T20I squad for the South Africa series.
