Team India suffered a massive defeat in the Boxing Day Test against South Africa in Centurion by an innings and 32 runs. That defeat shattered India’s chances to win a test series in South Africa for the first time in history.

South Africa dominated the visitors in both departments of the game and registered a resounding win. Team India couldn’t even play 35 overs and was bundled out for 131 runs in 34.1 overs. Only Virat Kohli looked to do well, as he scored an 82-ball 76 in the second inning. The other ten batters scored only 55 runs, including 8 extras.

This was also the fourth consecutive defeat for India in the SENA countries. Former Indian batter Subramaniam Badrinath has shown concern over India’s form and questioned why Virat is not leading the test squad. Virat is India’s most successful test captain, with a fantastic record in SENA countries.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Badrinath highlighted that Virat has more than 5000 test runs at an average of over 52 as captain. He has also won 40 matches out of 68 as captain. Virat has the most test wins after Graeme Smith, Ricky Ponting, and Steve Waugh as a test captain.

Badrinath said, “Why is Virat not the captain of the Test team? There is no comparison between Virat and Rohit. As far as I am concerned, a weaker player, Rohit, is not yet proven as an opener outside India. Why is he there?”

Rohit has the second-lowest batting average in South Africa among the top six batters. The former Indian star reckons that the Indian captain is a weaker batter and has not proved himself as an opener in the team. He added that Rohit’s place in the team is under scanner, and he is leading the side.
