On Wednesday, the former Australian cricketer also presented a special cap to Dawid Malan, who was playing his 50th T20I game. Alongside the cap, Hussey praised the left-handed batter for his numbers and records. He went on to compare the batter with the likes of Virat Kohli and Babar Azam.

“Well, this is something I never thought I will do in my lifetime, an English cap. Congratulations to Mal, who is playing his 50th game for England today. Obviously a lot of highlights in your career already – one of four centurions for England, second-highest scorer ever in the history of T20 cricket, right behind Alex Hales, number one player in the world for a period of time and also the fastest ever to 1000 runs, better than Virat Kohli and Babar Azam, I believe, quicker by a few games,” he said.

England win the T20I series

England sealed the three-match T20I series against Australia 2-0, with rain playing spoilsport in the last game on Friday (October 14). The concluded series was the final assignment before both teams move into the warm-up games of the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to get underway in a couple of days.

The series will be an eye-opener for the current T20I champions, who will be aiming to defend their title this time. Although they will be privileged to have the home support, the shortest format of the game is a game of margin. A silliest mistake can cost a team a match, hence the cup.
