Famous Indian cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle recently sent a message to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s fast-bowling coach Dale Steyn on Twitter. Bhogle made a request to Steyn to groom the young fast bowler named Umran Malik, who is present in the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad for the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.

Malik is one of the few bowlers in India who can bowl at 150 kmph consistently. The right-arm pacer did not have much experience under his belt. Still, looking at his raw pace, the Sunrisers Hyderabad decided to retain him ahead of players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan before the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

While Malik has got the pace, he is not so accurate at the moment. His accuracy is something that he needs to work on, and Harsha Bhogle made the following request to Dale Steyn, who was a master of pace bowling:

“Hey @DaleSteyn62, can’t think of anyone better than you to mentor a young kid like #UmranMalik who runs in hard and bowls seriously quick. My friends in Hyderabad will volunteer many fine biryanis in return! Cheers.”

Bhogle also joked that if Steyn can groom him, then his friends living in Hyderabad would present him with some delicious Hyderabadi biryanis.

Dale Steyn once played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad team in the IPL

While Umran Malik is a new name present in the SRH squad, there was a time when Dale Steyn led the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling attack. It will be interesting to see if Umran can improve his bowling under Dale’s guidance at Sunrisers Hyderabad.

So far, the youngster from Jammu and Kashmir has played two matches in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. He returned with figures of 2/39 in the match against the Rajasthan Royals, but he was a little expensive against the Lucknow Super Giants tonight as he conceded 39 runs in three overs without dismissing a single batter.
