Former Pakistan cricket team fast bowler Mohammad Amir has taken a dig at the Pakistan Cricket Board for the pitch on offer for the ongoing match between Pakistan and Australia. Amir felt that the bowlers should go home because the pitch was made only for the batters. He joked that the batters should play among themselves.

The first match of the ICC World Test Championship series between the Pakistan cricket team and the Australian cricket team started on March 4 at the Pindi Cricket Stadium. The conditions are optimal for batting, and the bowlers have had a forgettable match so far. The Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam won the toss and elected to bat first.

Abdullah Shafique and Imam ul Haq got the home side off to a great start, and then a century from Azhar Ali helped the Pakistan cricket team post 476/4 on the board before declaring the innings. The home side batted for 162 overs in the first innings.

In reply, the Australian cricket team has scored 422/6 in 125 overs so far. The massive totals posted by both teams highlights the nature of the pitch in Rawalpindi. Here’s what Mohammad Amir wrote on Twitter after seeing the match between Pakistan and Australia.

“is pitch pe to bowlers ko ghar chale jana chaye batman’s ek doosre k sath khail lein. #PakVsAustraila (Bowlers should go home given the nature of this pitch and batsman should play among themselves).”

Why is Mohammad Amir not playing for Pakistan cricket team right now?

Mohammad Amir made a good return to international cricket after serving the ban for his involvement in fixing. The left-arm fast bowler won the 2017 Champions Trophy with the Pakistan team and also played for them in the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

However, because of his disagreement with the team management over his workload, Amir retired from international cricket. He still plays T20 leagues and is open to play for Pakistan again. It will be interesting to see when he makes his comeback.
