After his terrific performance in England in the ongoing English County Championship 2022 season, Cheteshwar Pujara has once again regained his position in the Indian team after reports that team management is looking for a long-term replacement.

Well, there is a saying that ‘whatever happens, it’s for the best,’ well, it bodes well for Indian middle-order batsman Cheteshwar Pujara, who was not picked in the IPL Auction by any team, but that didn’t meant that it was all over for him.

After a series of underperforming results from the Saurashtra batsman, there was saying that Pujara would be dropped from the team after giving services for continuation of 10 years.

He was also, like always, not picked in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction held in February. But, that just paved the way for a solid comeback for Pujara, who then signed for English County side Sussex to play in the County Championship 2022.

And what a season he is having, already having scored 720 runs from 5 matches at an average of 120. As part of his great performance, he has scored 4 centuries that also includes 2 double hundreds.

With his great performance in the Country where India will be playing its next Test match, it would have been a shocker the right-hand batsman would have been left out. But, probably thinking, the selectors had no thinking to do before adding Pujara’s name in the team list.

And after he named in the squad, Pujara didn’t regret not playing in the cash rich league. Pujara told to Indian Express that if he had got picked by an IPL franchise, there were all the chances that he may would have had to sit out. “Had I been picked by an IPL team, there were major chances that I wouldn’t have got any games,” said Pujara.

He continued that when he was approached by the County side Sussex, he didn’t had to think a lot and the main reason that he accepted the offer was to get back his lost rhythm.

Team India will be touring England to play some limited overs cricket in the month of June and July and will include the one remaining rescheduled Test match from the 5 match Test series that was played last year. Team India is currently leading the series 2-1 after 4 matches.
