There has been a major controversy going on in Indian cricket scenes after the now former Indian team’s ODI captain Virat Kohli was sacked from his position as the ODI captain.

Rohit Sharma was made the new Indian cricket team’s ODI captain. This happens after earlier Virat Kohli had decided to step down as India’s T20I captain after the T20 World Cup 2021.

Rohit Sharma was named the new T20I captain, promoted from vice-captain. Ever since then, there has been a question mark over Virat’s role as ODI captain.

And it was finally on Wednesday that the BCCI confirmed that Rohit Sharma would takeover as India’s ODI captain as well. And this has led to controversy on Social Media.

Danish Kaneria speaks on Virat Kohli being replaced as ODI captain

Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria is the next to have involved in it. In a video uploaded on his YouTube channel, Danish Kaneria stated that the BCCI didn’t gave him the proper respect.

He stated that the BCCI didn’t do the right thing, they didn’t give him the respect. He talked about Kohli’s reign as India’s captain, 65 wins as ODI captain, the fourth highest by any Indian captain.

He further talked about his record as India’s captain and stated that Kohli deserved respect from the BCCI. He also opined that even though he has not won any ICC trohies, he is still phenomenal.

He further termed Kohli as “Superstar” and stated that Kohli and Babar Azam are the only two superstars in World Cricket right now, but also added that Kohli’s recent performance and form might be the reason behind the BCCI’s decision.

While all these goes on, we and fans are sure and believe that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have a good mutual respect.

While Rohit Sharma will be the new limited overs captain i.e the ODI and T20I format, Virat Kohli will continue to be the Indian team’s Test captain and will lead the side in the upcoming South Africa Test series that begins from the 26th December.
