Australia cricket team’s star opening batter David Warner, who is likely to retire after the 3rd and the final Test match vs Pakistan, strongly endorses Marcus Harris as his successor for the next Test opener for Australia. This support follows a day where Warner and Usman Khawaja, both opening duo, formed a solid 90-run partnership against Pakistan in challenging conditions at the MCG.

Discussing the ongoing debate about his successor, Warner expressed, “It’s obviously up to the selectors. But from my position, I feel like the person who’s worked their backside off and has been there for a while in the background, I think Harry’s been that person. He’s toured, he’s going to have that chance.”

Warner highlighted Harris’s efforts, including a recent hundred for a Victoria XI against Pakistan, and emphasized his consistent presence as the next in line. Warner believes that if selectors show faith in Harris, he will play in a manner similar to himself, going for shots when opportunities arise.

“If the selectors show faith in him, then I’m sure he’ll come out and play the way he does. It’s not too dissimilar to me. If he sees it in his areas, he goes for it, plays his shots, and I think he would fit well,” Warner further added.

Despite previous mentions of Matt Renshaw, Warner now gives his approval for Harris as the successor. Meanwhile, Warner continued his brilliant form in the 2nd Test match of the series vs Pakistan, scoring 38 runs of 83 balls before was dismissed by Agha Salman. But before that, him and Usman Khawaja had given Australia a flying start as the opening duo added 90 runs for the 1st wicket in 27 overs.
