Ahead of the crucial match, New Zealand opener Devon Conway expressed awareness of the formidable threat posed by India but expressed confidence in overcoming the challenge, relying on the experience of his teammates.

Reflecting on New Zealand’s consistent performance in recent ICC events, Conway emphasized the importance of maintaining their current playing style without thinking too far ahead.

“Our goal is to reach the World Cup final. Being one step closer is exciting, and everyone is pumped up. We’ve been playing good cricket, and for us, it’s about continuing our approach. The outcomes will fall into place,” he remarked.

Conway, as shared in a video by New Zealand Cricket (NZC), acknowledged India’s strength, momentum, and a formidable squad, stating, “We all know how good India are. They are carrying a lot of momentum (and) they have a strong squad.”

Expressing anticipation for the challenge, he added, “But we are looking forward to that challenge. It is exciting for us to play against the host nation in the semi-final. We know they are going to be a threat, but we are looking forward to that challenge.”

Conway, who showcased his prowess with an unbeaten 152 against England, acknowledged the excitement of his first ODI World Cup. Despite facing challenges in a different format, he expressed enjoyment of his time with the team and their impressive cricket.

Regarding his opening partner, Conway praised Rachin, noting, “It’s fantastic for Rachin. We all recognize his talent, and his standout performances in this world event are spectacular.”
