The Indian cricket team has kicked-off its Asian Games 2023 campaign today early morning with the quarter-final match vs the Nepal. The team led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, directly qualified for the quarter-finals of the tournament due to being a higher ranked team.
With the main Indian cricket team busy for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 that commences on the 5th of October, it is Chennai Super Kings’ opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad who is leading a second string team in the tournament.
The squad includes some of the future stars of the Indian cricket team such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma and Rinku Singh. Another player who is making his international debut in this tournament is Tamil Nadu’s Sai Kishore.
The left-arm orthodox bowler has been consistently doing well for the Tamil Nadu state team under the leadership of wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik. Sai has been in the selectors’ radar for some time now but with Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel ahead of him in the pecking order, he never had an opportunity before.
When making his debut today, during the national anthem, the bowler got emotional. A picture of emotions facial has been doing rounds on social media. Meanwhile, sharing the same, Sai Kishore’s Tamil Nadu state team captain Dinesh Karthik shared the hard working story behind the bowler.
Taking to his X account, Karthik said that Sai Kishore has been dominating the domestic circuit and he is a superstar with the white ball. He added that he got emotional when he woke up and saw Kishore’s name in the Playing XI. He added that Sai Kishore has also improved his batting considerably. He said he was just a strokeless wonder but has transformed himself into a player who can be relied upon.
