Former England cricket team captain Michael Vaughan has opined that the fans should not underestimate the impact of the team’s bowling performance in the second innings of Test matches. In the recent few ICC World Test Championship matches, the England cricket team has shown terrific intent with the bat and pulled off incredible run-chases in the fourth innings.
In the ongoing match between the Indian cricket team and the England cricket team, the home side conceded 416 runs in the first innings. Wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja stole the show with a century each. In reply, the England cricket team was skittled out for 284 runs. Jonny Bairstow scored a ton for the English team.
The Indian cricket team set a 378-run target for the hosts. They managed 245 runs in their second essay. According to Michael Vaughan, this is why the bowlers deserve credit for their performance in the second innings. Had the English bowlers not done well in that innings, the batters would not have had much of a chance to chase this target.
“All the talk about Englands batting is great but don’t underestimate the way they are bowling very strong batting line ups Out in the 2nd innings of the Test consistently to give them these chases,” Michael Vaughan wrote on Twitter.

Michael Vaughan also sent a message to his rival Wasim Jaffer
During the English innings, Vaughan also tagged Wasim Jaffer and asked him how he was feeling after watching the batting performance. England currently have the upper hand in the match.
On Day 5, the home side needs 119 runs to win with seven wickets in hand. It will be interesting to see which team comes out on top.
