Former England cricket team batter Michael Vaughan has expressed his unhappiness over the high ticket prices set by the Marylebone Cricket Club and Lord’s for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship match between England and New Zealand. As per reports, more than 10,000 tickets for the Test match have remained unsold.

The match will start tomorrow morning in London, and most of the stands are expected to remain empty despite no COVID-19 restrictions. The Barmy Army claimed that the prices for the tickets were high, and Michael Vaughan echoed the same. As per The Tribune, the ticket prices for adults are from GBP 50 to 160.

Vaughan pointed out that the charge for a ticket to watch the game was equivalent to the season ticket for The Hundred. Reacting to the reports of tickets going unsold, the former England cricket team batter wrote on Twitter:

“Lords not being full this week is embarrassing for the game .. Try & blame the Jubilee if they want but I guarantee if tickets weren’t £100 – £160 it would be jam packed !!! Why are they so expensive ??”

Michael Vaughan also suggested a solution to Lord’s on Twitter

On the same platform, Michael Vaughan tagged the official account of Lord’s and wrote that they should take advantage of the school holidays and try to attract kids to the venue with their parents.

“How about working out a way to get the tickets remaining at Lords to kids with a parent for £40 to make sure it is full .. it’s the school holidays and lots of kids will be around to go to the Test match ??” he added.
